About Sounds In Syllables

In 2023, the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC) acquired the Sounds In Syllables (SIS) curriculum from Sandra Dillon. ASDEC has been training Academic Therapists using the SIS program since the 1990's and this acquisition ensures that the work of Sandra Dillon will continue to benefit those with dyslexia for years to come.

Where to Get Trained

ASDEC trains, certifies and supports Academic Therapists to deliver evidence-based multisensory instruction in reading, spelling, written language, mathematics, and study skills to students who have dyslexia or have other learning differences. We train teachers to deliver effective multisensory educational strategies and we provide ongoing professional development to Academic Therapists, teachers and other educational leaders in evidence-based multisensory teaching strategies.

ASDEC offers training in the Maryland, Virginia, D.C. area and via Zoom.

The Multisensory Language Training Institute of New Mexico(MLTI-NM), founded by Director Emerita Sandra Dillon, continues to train Academic Therapists under the direction by Mary Poirier Gilroy who began training with Sandra Dillon in 1989. MLTI-NM is a training institute “without walls” but with an office in Taos County, New Mexico. While training can be arranged at sites throughout the Southwest region and beyond, most classes are offered on a regular basis either in Albuquerque, Taos or via Zoom.
