Blend Jack 21 is an engaging and educational game designed to reinforce reading skills through fun and interactive play. The game includes 78 carefully crafted playing cards featuring words with beginning blends, perfectly aligned with Level 1 of the Sounds In Syllables (SIS) program.

To help players keep track of their progress, the game comes with two game boards for point tracking and two poker chips for added fun. The gameboard allows students to utilize their math skills as they add or subtract numbers from the cards, helping them stay engaged while reinforcing both reading and arithmetic. Blend Jack 21 is also an excellent tool for supporting students who may not have fully mastered addition and subtraction facts, offering them a fun, hands-on way to practice and improve. The first player to land on 21 wins, making this a dynamic and educational experience that strengthens reading of blends and number sense.

The cards are designed with minimal distractions and use a clean serif font, ensuring focus on the reading material while maintaining a classic, easy-to-read appearance.

To Play:

Objective: Reach exactly 21 points.

Setup: Shuffle the reading cards numbered 1-9 and place them face down. Each player receives a gameboard and poker chip.

Gameplay:

  • Draw a card and read the word.
  • Use the number in the corner to add or subtract from your total score.
  • Use the gameboard and chip to track your points.
  • Keep drawing cards and adjusting your score until you reach 21.
  • You can go over 21, but not exceed 25.

Winning: The first player to reach exactly 21 points wins.

Adaptation: For an extra challenge, keep drawing cards to reach 21 without going over. If you exceed 21, you're out for that round. The closest to 21 wins.
