Our Level 1 package includes 410 highly controlled decodable stories, with 10 stories for each progressively introduced sound or skill. Beginning with just t, n, and short a, the stories systematically introduce:

Consonants and short vowels: p, s, l, d, short i, f, h, k, g, c, r, b, m, v, y, w, j, z, x, short u, short e, and short o.

Additional skills: Beginning blends, the word the, ending blends, and the Floss Rule.

Each set of 10 stories builds on previously introduced sounds and skills, giving students repeated opportunities to practice reading connected text without encountering patterns they haven't yet learned. No additional high-frequency words are introduced beyond the taught letter-sound correspondences until the word the is added. This exceptionally controlled progression allows students to apply their developing decoding skills with confidence.
